“Ona Mission Multisport Adventure in paradise – the most scenic multisport event in the tropics. Where else in Australia can you enjoy a multisport event on a palm-lined beach, in world-heritage rainforest AND on a tropical island?”

What’s it all about?

This multisport event takes entrants through some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia.  You can take on the short or long course as a solo competitor, be part of a three-person team with a paddler, runner and rider, share the legs between two people or try a new “pairs” category – the only category that allows you to use a double paddle craft. In the new pairs category you must complete the whole course together.

The event begins with a paddle from South Mission Beach to picturesque Dunk Island, followed by a run through the rainforest to a scenic lookout on Kootaloo and return (the  longer run also explores other parts of the island).

After paddling back to the mainland there is a mountain bike leg which takes participants north along palm-tree-lined beaches, onto the road and over Fenbys Gap and then into a shady rainforest trail – the Musgravia Track – before heading back to South Mission Beach with a detour through the mountain bike park on the way for the long course. There is about 5km of tarmac riding – the rest is trails, grass or the beach but nothing too technical so newbies don’t need to worry.

The final run leg is along the beach south to the boat ramp and return (short course) and then on to beachside Kennedy Walking Track to Tam O’Shanter Point and return for the long course.

Short Course

4km paddle, 6km run, 4km paddle, 23km ride, 4km run

This event has been designed for those who are moderately fit and seeking to experience adventure racing in a fun environment involving running, paddling and mountain biking as an individual or in a team.

Long course

8km paddle, 11km run, 4km paddle, 27km ride, 10km run

For those with some experience in adventure racing who relish the longer distances as an individual or in a team.

Teams can be entered in either the short course or long course.

Runners are transported to and from Dunk Island (included in the registration costs).

While the recommended team size is three people – with a paddler, runner and rider – we allow two-person teams in the same category.

Runners in teams of 3 will be returned to the mainland in time for their final run leg. (In the event of a team of 2, the island runner would not be back in time to do the mountain bike leg.)

Enter your workplace team for a corporate challenge with a difference!

Pairs  – Taking on the whole race togetherIMG_4943

We also have a pairs category for the short course. This is back due to popular demand! Pairs is the only category where a double paddle craft can be used. (Towing devices cannot be used for bikes.) Pairs must cover the whole course together.
